     Race Participants: 

     One Racing Event for competitive racers who use USCA Type canoes and racing kayaks, and all other canoe
     and kayak types who want to be timed.  Race is approximately 8 miles long. 

     Eco-Paddle Participants:

     One Non-Racing Event for all types of canoes and kayaks that is not timed or competes for awards.  This is a
     guided leisure paddle that follows one leg of the official race course and is approximately 4 miles long. 

     General Rules

  • A life jacket (PFD) must be worn by each participant while on the water.  Racers will be disqualified
     for not wearing a PFD at any time during the race.
  • Kayaks and Canoes must remain on the race course at all times.
  • Only single blade paddles allowed for canoes if racing.
  • Any racer not finishing must report as soon as possible to officials.
  • Contestants are duty-bound to help others in jeopardy.

     Awards:  Top three finishers will receive a gold, silver or bronze medallion.  No awards for Eco-Paddle
     participants.           .

     Course Description:  Scenic flat-water race on Pembroke Creek, Edenton Bay and Queen Anne Creek
     along Edenton’s waterfront.  Beautiful cypress, Spanish moss, heron, Osprey, Ducks, Geese, Turtles……. 

     Estimated Time to Complete Race:  Racing Division Participants:  1 hr.  to 1 hr./30 min.
                                                                                              
                                                                   Eco-Paddle Participants:  1 hr. to 2 hr. 

     Note:  If the wind and waves are bad on race day, we have an alternate protected course. 

     Registration:  Begins at the Edenton Waterfront on June 14 at 8:30 am 

     Race Starts:  June 14 at 10:00 am                      Eco-Paddle Starts:  10:15 am 

     Sanctioned by the NC Canoe and Racing Association and the US Canoe Association

      Permission and Waiver of Liability:

      Understanding this is a community event to experience and enjoy the natural resources
      of Edenton’s Waterfront;  I hereby agree to hold harmless the Organizers and their agencies
      from any liability related to loss, damage, or injury as a result of my participation.  I also 
      authorize the Organizers to seek and consent for emergency medical attention for me or 
      my child if necessary.
