The 11thh
Annual Edenton Music and Water Festival will
take place June 18 & 19th, 2010 on the
Waterfront in Historic Edenton. For the first
time, this event will kick-off on Friday evening
with a Talent Show from 6:30 – 8:00 pm and a
Sunset Paddle beginning at 6:45 – 7:45 pm
getting everyone ready for the festivities on
Saturday. This year’s festival line-up
includes USCA sanctioned canoe and kayak races,
demonstrations and easy paddle tours; sunfish
sailboat racing; kids area with crafts and
games; a rock
climbing wall; numerous
educational and commercial vendors with an
eco-tourism theme; food vendors of all types;
and a variety of musicians from around the
region. A favorite from years past, the Periauger will be available for sailing as well
as paddling with during the day.
The
registration begins at 8:30 am on Saturday for
the East Coast Flatwater Canoe and Kayak Races
followed by racing at 10:00 am for all Racing
Divisions. The Eco-Paddle will begin around
10:15 am with explorations of Queen Anne and
Pembroke Creeks and the main festival venue
opening at 10 am with outfitters; educational
vendors; arts and craft booths; and food for
everyone’s taste.
Peter
Boehling will MC this year’s entertainment
beginning at 11:00 am with a wide variety of
talented performers concluding around 6:30 pm. A
schedule with performance names and times will
be posted near the stage area.
At noon,
paddlers of all levels from beginner to
experienced, will be able to get out on the
water with canoe and kayak demonstrations
courtesy of the Eastern 4-H Environmental
Center. All equipment will be provided or you
may provide your own. In connection, there will
be a variety of guided paddle tours with eco and
historic emphasis. At 2 pm Sunfish Sailing
races will begin for both youth and adults that
enjoy a light competitive race on the Bay.
