Broad Street

Habit Brothers Building 201-203-205-207 S. Broad St.

The Habit Brother building was built in 1927 for four brothers from Syria.  It is speculated that the building was contracted by Lord Byron Perry from Elizabeth City, because of its resemblance to many of the structures he built.

The building is named for four brothers from Syria who paid for its construction, John, Edward, Samuel and Joseph.  For many years each brother operated a store in the large three store building.
