         Broad Street The building illustrated below is the Dr. William J. Leary, Sr. building, which was built in 1872. Since it was originally built, the store has undergone several complete renovations, altering the look of the structure greatly. Dr. Leary was a revered physician and druggist who began his medical career after the Civil War. In 1920, his heirs sold the building, and in 1948 it was bought by the Edenton Building and Loan Association.
