117 E King Street
The Chowan County Courthouse, circa 1767

The Chowan County Courthouse was erected at the foot of the Courthouse Green in 1767.  It is the oldest functioning courthouse in North Carolina.  At the top of the cupola sits a Seth Thomas clock that dates back to 1891 when it replaced the original clock.
