     Incorporated in 1909 by seventy-one Chowan County residents, the Peanut Factory was built in 1909 as the tallest building in Edenton.  

     Although the company was sold in 1957 and the building was vacated, the Peanut Factory is now being completely restored thanks to Preservation North Carolina.
