Wessington, circa 1850

     This enormous brick edifice was built in 1850 for Dr. Thomas D. Warren.  At the time it was built, to erect the same house in New York, would have cost approximately $10,441.44.  In 1860, Warren was dubbed the wealthiest man in Chowan County and possibly the state.
