W King Street
Pembroke Hall, circa 1840

This Greek Revival style house was built in 1850 for Dr. Matthew Page.  Dr. Page died in 1853, and his widow remained at Pembroke Hall until her death, at which time it was inherited by Herbert Page, their son.  Herbert lost the house in 1896, and three years later it was bought by William and Addie Elliott.  By 1947, it came into the ownership of Gertrude Murry Rosevear.  She and her husband, Colonel William Rosevear, Jr.,  remodeled the house and named it Pembroke Hall.
