Created by Historic Oak View County Park staff in 2006, "The Rhythm of the Factory: Life and Labor in North Carolina's Textile Mill Communities" is a fascinating exhibit that vividly captures the unique aspects of life in textile mill communities. Learn how the mills influenced various facets of the workers' lives, discover the bonds that developed between neighbors, and explore the legacy that the textile mill communities have imprinted on North Carolina's rich history. The exhibit will be located in the Historic Edenton Visitor's Center at 108 N. Broad Street, Edenton and will be open 9-5 Tue-Sat.

It's North Carolina Beer Month in April and Historic Edenton State Historic Site is offering the Taverns and Trolley Tour with a special historical beer brewing demonstration included!
This year, the Taverns and Trolley Tour will leave from the Historic Sites Visitor Center, 108 N. Broad Street at 3:30 pm April 6th. This brief, narrated trolley tour includes learning about the historical taverns and local highlights of Edenton before making a 15 minute stop a NC Craft Beer Tasting at Waterman's Bar. Back aboard the trolley for additional 15 minutes of touring, before making a second Craft Beer sampling stop at Edenton Bay Trading Co. . The trolley will return to the Historic Sites Visitor Center around 4:45 PM. Then, a historic interpreter will conduct a 15 minute demonstration of Colonial Beer Brewing at the James Iredell House Kitchen.
Once the tour is over, you're on your own to revisit your favorite watering hole for additional beer and refreshments, or you might want to make reservations at one of Edenton's fine dining establishments. Tickets are $20.00 per person and can be reserved at Historic Edenton State Historic Site, 108 N. Broad Street. Final payment will be due before the tour leaves, CASH OR CHECK ONLY. April 4-5, 1819, the President of the United States James Monroe, his Secretary of War John C. Calhoun, the First Lady, and other government officials traveled to Edenton on a tour of the South. Monroe was met with a 21-gun salute and attended a public dinner at the 1767 Chowan County Courthouse. April 2019 marks the 200-year anniversary of this momentous occasion.

The Easter Bunny is coming to Edenton! Historic Edenton State Historic Site is hosting our annual Breakfast with the Easter Bunny program April 20, 2019 from 8am-11am. The morning starts with a pancake breakfast with the Easter Bunny hosted by the Unanimity No. 7 Masonic Lodge at 215 E. Water Street from 8:00-9:00 am. After breakfast, hop on over to the Historic 1767 Chowan County Courthouse Green to take photos with the Easter Bunny, get your face painted, and participate in an easter egg hunt with candy AND special prizes! To reserve your breakfast, PLEASE reserve your tickets by calling the Historic Edenton Visitor's Center at 252-482-2637. Cash or Check the day of only. Proceeds benefit Historic Edenton State Historic Site's educational and recreational programs.
