Presidential Ball 200th Anniversary of President James Monroe

On April 4–5, 1819, the President of the United States James Monroe, his Secretary of War John C. Calhoun, the First Lady, and other government officials traveled to Edenton on a tour of the South. Monroe was met with a 21-gun salute and attended a public dinner at the 1767 Chowan County Courthouse. April 2019 marks the 200-year anniversary of this momentous occasion.
